You said: Residents take a great deal of pride in the appearance of their estate, and would like grounds maintenance contractors to spend more time on-site.

We did: We consulted with residents about proposals to increase the duration of visits from the grounds maintenance contractor by 30 minutes throughout the summer months; allowing them more time to pick up litter, tend to shrubs and edge the beds. We explained how this would affect our service charges and gave every household the chance to vote for their preference.

You said: Residents expressed low levels of satisfaction with the grounds maintenance service.

We did: We provided customers with a tailored version of the grounds maintenance specification to help them understand exactly what is covered as part of the service. We arranged an estate walkabout with residents to give them the opportunity to bring to our attention any areas of concern. We approached the chair of the residents' association to request assistance in monitoring the performance of our grounds maintenance contractor and making sure that work is carried out to specification. We're planning another estate walkabout in January to assess what improvements have been made and what more could be done to improve the appearance of the estate.
