What the Autumn Budget means for Accent customers

The Government’s Autumn Budget includes changes to energy support, homeownership and investment in affordable housing.

Help with energy bills

Households in council tax bands A to D in England are expected to receive a £100 energy payment from January 2027.

The Government has also announced a temporary reduction in VAT on domestic electricity, which is expected to lower the annual energy price cap by around £50 from April 2027.

We will explain how customers can access this support when the Government confirms the arrangements.

More affordable homes

An additional £1.5 billion will support the delivery of around 10,000 social and affordable homes in England.

Accent will review the funding details to understand how they could support our plans to provide more affordable homes.

Changes for first-time buyers and shared owners

A new scheme called Your First Home will help some first-time buyers purchase a new-build home with a deposit from 2.5% and a government equity loan.

The Government is also reviewing shared ownership, including staircasing costs, resales and the support available when someone is struggling to remain in their home.

Existing shared owners will still need to consider increases in mortgage payments, rent and service charges. We will share further information when the proposed changes are confirmed.
