Residents, partners and Accent colleagues came together on 28 July to celebrate the official opening of the new Avenue Sucy Play Park and Garden in Camberley.
The event marked the completion of a project designed to create a welcoming outdoor space where residents of all ages can play, relax and spend time together. Throughout the day, families enjoyed sports and games, face painting, free ice cream and the opportunity to explore the new facilities.
The project was delivered through close collaboration between Accent and Surrey Heath Borough Council, whose support and contribution were instrumental in bringing the new play park and garden to life.
The opening event provided an opportunity for residents to meet with Accent colleagues, celebrate their community and see first-hand the positive impact the new space will have for local families and young people.
Families enjoyed a day of free activities, including sports, games, face painting and ice cream, while exploring the new play area and garden and meeting members of the Accent team and other guests, including the Chief Executive of Surrey Heath Borough Council, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as local councillors.
Nick Apetroaie, CEO of Accent, said: "I remember visiting this housing estate a year ago with local councillors and officers from Surrey Heath Borough Council, and feeling rather disappointed by the lack of safe, attractive outdoor play space for the children living here. Following a consultation with customers, it became clear that we needed to invest in improving the estate's ageing recreational facilities.
“Seeing the smiles on children's faces at the opening of Avenue Sucy Play Park and Garden shows exactly why projects like this matter. We want the communities where we provide homes to be places where people can thrive, and creating safe, attractive spaces for children to play and for neighbours to connect is an important part of that.
“This project is a great example of what can be achieved through partnership working with Surrey Heath Borough Council. We are delighted to have helped create a lasting community asset that will be enjoyed by local families for many years to come."
