Accent Housing has retained its Silver rating in the recent SHIFT sustainability assessment, while improving its overall score and making significant progress in reducing its carbon footprint.
The 2025–26 assessment recognised Accent as a top-performing landlord assessed by SHIFT for the sustainability of its new-build homes, highlighting the organisation’s continued focus on delivering more sustainable affordable housing.
Accent also saw a significant improvement in its Strategy and Management performance following the approval of its Sustainability Strategy last year.
The organisation has reduced its overall carbon footprint by 7%, alongside a 72% reduction in Scope 2 emissions following its move to a 100% renewable energy tariff in 2025.
Tina Iball, Accent’s Sustainability Manager, said: “Retaining our Silver SHIFT rating while improving our overall performance is a great achievement and reflects the hard work taking place across Accent. It’s particularly encouraging to see the progress we’re making in reducing our carbon footprint and delivering more sustainable new homes.
“There is still more to do, and the recommendations from this year’s assessment will help shape our priorities over the year ahead as we continue to improve the sustainability of our homes, services and operations.”
Cara Parrock, Assistant Director of Asset Investment and Delivery at Accent, added: “Retaining our Silver SHIFT rating reflects the real progress we’re making to improve the sustainability of our homes and operations, while giving us a strong foundation to build on in the year ahead. I’m proud of the team and the work that has gone into achieving this, and I’m looking forward to building on this progress as we continue to improve our performance.”
