Introducing Maggie Punyer



Maggie joined the Board of Accent in 2012. She had a long and respected career with Ocean Media Group. She was one of the three founding directors, helping to establish the publishing, conference and exhibition company through an MBO from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

In particular, Maggie led on-going relations with the CIH from formation until her retirement. Over the years, she initiated, researched and implemented a number of new profitable projects for the company including the UK Housing Awards.

Maggie’s former roles include training and education officer for the CIH, where she had responsibility for the new CIH professional qualification. She also organised the annual conference and exhibition, and the initiation and delivery of an extensive programme of short courses for housing practitioners.

Maggie was a regional director for Shelter, responsible for fundraising, development, case work and liaison with Shelter Groups.

Since retiring Maggie has served on the Board of Harrogate Conference Centre and has been a trustee of Homeless Link. Maggie also Chairs CHIC (Central Housing Investment Consortia) a not for profit company procuring essential products and compliant services for the housing sector.

Maggie has a real passion for the sector, noting homelessness, benefits, building strong communities and tenant involvement as her focus. She has close links with a range of voluntary organisations, institutions and academic bodies across the public
