We are thrilled to share some fantastic news from our Bedfordshire development at The Pastures in Lower Stondon. On Monday 28 April, Alistair Strathern, the MP for the Hitchin constituency, joined residents in Stondon to celebrate the opening of their new Community Centre.
The official ribbon cutting of the brand-new community centre is exciting milestone for Accent and our partners.
The Pastures consists of a mix of 30 detached, semi and terraced houses with ample gardens with on plot parking.

Getting to this point has been a true partnership effort. The centre has been made possible thanks to the dedication and collaboration of so many people and stakeholders such as:
- Local parish council: Its guidance and community insight have been invaluable.
- Snowdon Homes: Thank you for your expert build delivery and can-do spirit.
- Central Bedfordshire planning dept: A huge shout-out for its generous contribution of £1.1 million, alongside Accent’s own £360,000 investment.
Our MP, Alistair Strathern: We were delighted they could join us to show their support for this vital community hub.
It was fantastic to see residents, councillors, volunteers, our colleagues and Snowdon Homes’ team come together to celebrate what will be a real hub for social events, classes, meetings and more.
Elements that make this centre special include its:
- Flexible community space: From coffee mornings and children’s clubs to local enterprise workshops and wellness sessions, this space adapts to community needs.
- Bright, welcoming interiors: Flooded with natural light, the open-plan hall and breakout rooms are already buzzing with ideas.
- Sustainable features: Energy-efficient lighting and smart heating controls ensure the centre is as kind to the environment as it is to its users.
Over the coming weeks the Parish council will roll out a calendar of community activities, Snowdon Homes will hand over day-to-day management to local volunteers, and Accent will continue to support with marketing materials, IT setup, and advice and guidance.
Thank you to everyone involved including Accent colleagues, partners and the local community for their dedication and passion in making this happen. Their enthusiasm, problem-solving and can-do spirit have made this community centre a reality.
Here’s to many years of community gatherings, celebrations and shared successes in this wonderful new space.
