Affordable homes at Litlington Edge Royston by Accent

We are proud to announce the completion of our new affordable housing development at Litlington Edge, Royston providing 22 high-quality, energy-efficient homes in one of South Cambridgeshire’s most sought-after rural communities.

The development, delivered in partnership with Burmor Construction and supported by funding through Homes England via the Together Housing Programme, has transformed a rural site on Royston Road into a welcoming new community of homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

The homes have been built to EPC A rating thanks to the use of air source heat pumps and PV panels. This development forms part of Accent’s wider commitment to creating sustainable, affordable homes across the region.

Located on Royston Road, to the south of Litlington village, the scheme offers a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership homes, including one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses and bungalows. Of the 22 new homes, nine are for affordable rent, and thirteen are available through shared ownership, helping local families and first-time buyers get onto the housing ladder in an area where demand for homes is high.

The Litlington Edge development was carefully planned to complement its rural setting while meeting local housing demand. The layout prioritises space and greenery, creating an attractive, community-focused environment close to local amenities, schools, and transport links to Cambridge and London.

Each home is built to EPC-A energy standards and fitted with air source heat pumps, helping residents cut down on energy bills and live more sustainably, this is a key part of Accent’s drive to reduce carbon impact and improve residents’ quality of life.

We purchased the land from the Minster Property Group, and worked closely with Burmor Construction to deliver a design tailored specifically for affordable housing, ensuring quality and sustainability were at the forefront throughout construction.

The Litlington Edge scheme forms part of our wider project to deliver 180 affordable homes across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

“This is a really exciting development for the area. We know how important it is for people to be able to live close to family, work and schools. These homes not only meet local housing needs but also support the long-term sustainability of the village.

This development also demonstrates Accent’s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable homes in areas where demand continues to outstrip supply. By offering a variety of property types and tenures, we’re not just building homes but we’re helping to grow a diverse and sustainable community in the heart of South Cambridgeshire.” - Steve Morris, Executive Director of Development and Sales at Accent.

“We remain committed to delivering projects that support a more sustainable, low-carbon future. These homes reflect that commitment, featuring Air Source Heat Pumps, Solar PV panels, increased insulation, and SAP A ratings throughout. This not only lowers environmental impact but also ensures long-term energy efficiency and cost savings for residents.

We are equally proud of the development’s contribution to local biodiversity. With bird boxes on every home, a dedicated Hedgehog Highway woven through the gardens, and a hibernaculum located at the rear of the site, we have created safe, thriving spaces for wildlife to flourish year-round. Not only that, we helped install swift boxes on residential homes in Litlington village itself, helping provide a safe place for the birds to nest and thrive.” - Patrick Burke, Director at Burmor Construction.
