Accent helps customers get online and build digital confidence | Get Online Week

Last week was Get Online Week, and Accent spent some time helping our customers build skills and confidence using the internet.

At Sudbury Court, 18 customers joined our Bits and Bytes Lunch and Learn session with the London Internet Exchange (LINX). The event was all about learning more about the internet and how to use devices safely.

Customers enjoyed:

  • A friendly talk about how the internet works
  • One to one help from the LINX team to set up phones, tablets and laptops
  • A tasty buffet lunch
  • Free tech giveaways including two laptops, two phones and a tablet

The new devices are already making a big difference.
Albert, one of our customers, did not have a phone before. His wife, Freya, worried about leaving him alone. Thanks to the donated phone, Albert can now stay in touch and feel more independent.

Robin, another customer, finds using a smartphone difficult because of a health condition. After learning how to use a laptop, he was delighted to take one home. It will help him with online banking and emails.

Customers told us they now feel more confident and want to learn even more. LINX plan to keep helping them on their digital journey.

A huge thank you to LINX and everyone who helped make the day such a success.
