We’re running a small environmental trial this May called No Mow May at a limited number of schemes.
What is No Mow May?
No Mow May is about letting some grass grow naturally for a short time. This helps support wildlife like wildflowers, bees and butterflies.
What’s happening?
During May:
- Grass cutting will pause in some areas only
- This is happening at a small number of schemes, not everywhere
- Not all grassed areas will be left to grow
- Paths, access routes and safety areas will still be maintained
Why are we doing this?
Letting grass grow for a short time can:
- Help wildlife and pollinators thrive
- Encourage wildflowers to grow
- Reduce carbon emissions from mowing
- Support greener, more sustainable communities
Is this permanent?
No, this is a temporary trial only.
Normal grass cutting will return after May. It may take a little time for grassed areas to look as they usually do again.
