Accent Resolves Anti-Social Behaviour Case to Restore Customer’s Peace

Anti-social behaviour can have a devastating impact on people’s wellbeing, sense of security, and ability to enjoy their home. At Accent, we are committed to responding quickly and compassionately when our customers need support.

A recent case handled by Housing Partner Cally shows just how meaningful that support can be.

A customer in distress

One of our customers in the North East contacted Cally following a series of upsetting incidents linked to their neighbour’s visitors. These included:

  • Verbal abuse and name-calling
  • Objects being thrown into their garden, including an attempt to harm their dog
  • A suspected incident of paint thrown at the window
  • A caravan being parked on the drive, with alleged involvement in drug-related activity
  • Littering, and even horses being left in the street

The situation was causing our customer to feel afraid, making it difficult for them to feel safe in their own home.

Taking prompt action

Understanding the seriousness of the behaviour, Cally acted quickly. She engaged with the customer to offer reassurance and support, gathered information, and worked directly with those involved to address the concerns.

Through clear communication, careful management, and a focus on resolving the issues at their source, the situation was brought under control. The other customer responsible for the behaviour later chose to end their tenancy and move out, meaning no formal legal action was needed.

A positive outcome

With the issues resolved, our customer’s quality of life has hugely improved. They are now able to enjoy their home in peace once again - something made clear in the heartfelt thank-you card they sent to Cally:

“I just want to say a big thank you for everything you have done this last year for me. I can now live a life, and live peacefully in my home. It’s very much appreciated.”

Housing Partner Cally said, “Anti-social behaviour can seriously affect a person’s sense of safety and comfort at home. I’m proud to have been able to tackle the issue, and receiving this thank-you card was a meaningful reminder of the positive impact our work can have. I’m delighted the customer can now enjoy peace once again.”
