Looking After Your Communal Spaces | Estate Services | Accent Housing

Our Estate Services team helps look after the shared areas where you live. This includes communal cleaning, grounds maintenance, and support with aids and adaptations.

We work with trusted contractors to carry out this work. Our aim is simple: to keep shared spaces safe, tidy and pleasant for everyone.

Grounds maintenance

Our contractors help keep outdoor spaces looking their best. This includes:

  • Grass cutting every two weeks from March to October (weather permitting)

  • Monthly visits from October to February

  • Hedge cutting three times a year (outside of bird nesting season)

  • Tree checks and work based on advice from tree specialists

  • Fly-tipping removal through our contractor

You can see the full grounds maintenance schedule on our website.

Communal cleaning

Shared indoor spaces are cleaned regularly. This includes:

  • Routine cleaning visits based on our cleaning schedule

  • Clear cleaning standards for contractors to follow

  • Regular checks to make sure the work meets our standards

Did you know?

Sometimes things can affect when work takes place:

  • Heavy rain may delay grass cutting

  • Hedges cannot be cut during bird nesting season

  • Very cold weather (below 0°C) can affect mopping

  • Items left in communal areas can stop cleaners from doing their job and may also create fire risks

Listening and improving

We regularly check the work carried out by our contractors. This includes:

  • Site visits

  • Completion reports

  • Performance meetings

Our Estate Services Manager also visits sites during the year to make sure standards are being met.
