Things To Do In Redcar And Cleveland With Kids
A family day out to Kirkleatham museum will never disappoint. The museum has had a change around recently and now features pieces relating to the steelworks.
Currently, there's a one-way system in place and it is free to enter, we would advise checking before travelling because they often have events that require an entry fee. The museum plays host to several exhibitions, festivals and other events throughout the year.
To incorporate the love for indoors and outdoors, on-site is the lovely Kirkleatham Grounds and play area, you can take a walk in the woodland trail and finish in the fantastic play area.
If your family is one for adventure, living or visiting Redcar and Cleveland is your ideal destination. From hiking to the top of Roseberry Topping (Hike to the summit and you’ll see why I mentioned it first) to trailing around Tees Barrage on your bikes, the landscape and views are one of a kind.
Roseberry Topping is quite possibly the most well-known place in the area. Managed by the National Trust, it is free to enter with a small car park at the bottom. Please be aware that it can be slippy and muddy if it has been raining. On the other hand, if you hike up on a nice clear day the pictures you will be able to take are sensational.
Saltburn Mini Golf
If you’re feeling competitive, why not take the family to Saltburn mini golf. A small 9 hole course will bring the beasts out in the family, let’s see who comes out on top. With many obstacles, it will make you think!
At only £3.50 per person, it is a cheap, but very cheerful day out.
The miniature railway was first established in 1947!
One for the train lovers, you can jump on at Cat Nab Station and take a ride on Saltburn's Miniature Railway. Riding through the pretty Valley Gardens. The route takes you from Cat Nab station in the main Car Park for Saltburn to Forest Halt, which leaves you with a short walk along to the tea rooms.
An attraction/day out that needs no introduction. The sea varies how far out it is, but on nice summer’s days, you definitely don’t feel like you’re in the UK. Just above the beach, you have the arcades, and who doesn’t love the arcades.
From free weekend parking to playing on the machines, you and the children will have a fantastic day. Rumour has it the beach has plenty of shells to collect!
