As we hopefully, and safely, come to the end of Covid restrictions next month, our thoughts are firmly fixed on you, providing you with that personal experience and seeing you face to face once again.
Although some of us have been out and about during the pandemic, carrying out important safety checks and other surveys and maintenance for example, the restrictions meant that we couldn't go into your homes, or meet with you personally.
Accent Housing During The Pandemic
But, that doesn’t mean to say we’ve not been here, we’ve just been working in a different way. We’ve still been helping new customers find homes with us, and we’ve still been helping existing customers move on if their needs have changed.
We’ve also been busy supporting the growing number of customers who have found themselves with money or tenancy worries, because of the pandemic and through no fault of their own. Many of them are still sadly facing the long term impact of the pandemic, for them, it’s won’t be something that simply goes away on 19 July.
You’ve told us that you’ve been generally happy with how we’ve carried on providing your services, but we also know some of you have raised issues, particularly with some of your repairs and estate services. How we provide the service in the future is now under a major review, and we will keep you updated with what’s happening.
Unfortunately, it has been difficult to deliver our full repairs and maintenance service during the pandemic. You may have heard about the shortage in supplies of certain materials and products, and that has affected us too.
This is one of the reasons why we decided to pause some of our planned improvements programme. We also wanted to make sure we were weren’t helping Covid to spread by being in your homes for long periods of time fitting, for instance, new kitchens and bathrooms. Your safety has been, and always will be, our top priority.
Although we’ll still be working from home for a while yet, we have really missed you, and we really want to be back on our schemes and estates, meeting you face to face.
Plans Going Forward
Over the next couple of months, we are going to visit as many places as we can, and we hope lots of you will come out to see us. We want to catch up with friends old and new, remind you of the service we promise to provide and sort out any problems you’ve had.
We’ll be looking to arrange a few things you and your families might enjoy, although this will depend on what we can arrange safely.
We’ll still have to follow whatever guidelines are still in place for social distancing or wearing face masks, even if the government says they are no longer needed, we still have a duty of care to you and will take whatever measures we think are best. We’ll sort through all these arrangements when we’ve decided what we can do on each visit and how many of you plan to join us.
We’ll still have to stay outside, we won’t be coming into your homes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk with you, even if you have private issues or concerns to raise. We’ll be there to listen.
