Voluntary Right To Buy Scheme Across The Midlands
The Government, in partnership with the National Housing Federation, has launched a £200m pilot of the Voluntary Right to Buy scheme across the Midlands.
Eligible housing association tenants in the East and West Midlands will be able to register for a place on the pilot. Those who are successful will be given the opportunity to buy their home at a Right to Buy level discount.
Given the fixed budget, the Government will only be able to fund a limited number of places through the pilot.
Although we support the Voluntary Right to Buy scheme, we will not be taking part in the Midlands pilot as we have fewer properties in this area than the guideline minimum for taking part in the scheme.
We will be keeping an eye on how the pilot develops and we will provide further updates as the progresses.
