Accent residents, staff and board members have been working together to redesign our resident engagement strategy.
Over the years, it has been a challenge to engage with residents who are representative of our customers. This is in part due to our widespread locations but also because of changing customer expectations for faster, easier and more simple ways of providing feedback.
Our various panels and committees have all had very different aims and approaches, and there have not been any clear channels of communication between them, so residents have struggled to make their voices heard.
So, it's time for a ‘fresh start’ for resident engagement at Accent. This will create new opportunities for residents to be involved in decision-making and to help us improve our services.
National Scrutiny Group
Our five regional compliance & scrutiny committees will collapse into one National Scrutiny Group. This group will be made up of residents from all over Accent. They will play an active role in analysing service delivery and facilitating opportunities for other residents to be involved in investigating service delivery on an informal basis.
Scrutiny will be less focussed on region, and more focussed on groups of people with common interests such as families, older people or homeowners.
To serve on this group, you do not need to have had any experience of resident involvement, but you do need to have certain skills and aptitudes. For this reason, you have to apply to join the National Scrutiny Group.
Training is provided and, as with any form of resident engagement, we will reimburse all reasonable expenses incurred including travel to and from any meetings or events that you attend.

Our new resident engagement strategy will place more emphasis on online engagement so residents can give us their views at their convenience, without having to attend meetings.
Being part of the Accent 500 is a great opportunity for you to put across your views, share your ideas and help us to shape the services Accent residents receive.
As part of the Accent 500, we’ll ask you to take part in regular polls, surveys and questionnaires, consultations and focus groups. It is a great way to keep up to date with what is happening at Accent and what other opportunities are available.
You do not need to have any experience in resident involvement to join the Accent 500, nor do you have to take part in every survey or consultation – you give as much of your time as you choose and take part in the surveys and consultations which interest you.
