Gas Safety and Heating Checks

Gas Safety Checks

The dangers of not having gas appliances which are checked by Gas Safe engineers can be life threatening for you, your family and your neighbours. They can result in gas leaks, explosions and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and be devastating for everyone involved.

We maintain and service the appliances we own in your homes, (not those you own or those which have been ‘gifted’ to you). Please see our repairs responsibilities information page and our repairs responsibilities leaflet for more information about this.

We have a legal responsibility to maintain the appliances we own which is why we need to access your homes every year to carry out a gas safety check. Please let us in to do this, it’s vitally important that we help to keep you and your family safe.

The link below is a story about Jo, someone who didn’t know to have a safety check and nearly paid the highest price for not doing so.

Jo's story - knowing the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning could save your life.

Heating Checks

It’s also the time of year when we are starting to think about the colder months and when to put our heating on. That's why we are asking you to check your boiler is working now, before you might have to put your heating on. A quick check now will mean everything is working as it should be when the times comes to turn it on and, if there are any problems, they can be reported and sorted. If you have any small issues, like re-pressurising, you might be able to solve them yourself with our self-help ‘how to videos’. If the problem is more serious, then please contact us so we can get it sorted for you before the winter rush.

If you are one of our homeowners, we do not service or check the gas appliances you own. Please arrange for a Gas Safe engineer to check these for you every year. Our self-help videos may also be useful.

Thank you.
