The Home Office's Fire Kills Campaign is part of the Government's commitment to help prevent death and injury from accidental fire.
During February and March, a TV advert will be showing how it only takes one small thing to start a fire.
The campaign has been designed with the National Fire Chief's Council and fire and rescue services. It is aiming to encourage us all to test our fire alarms regularly, make sure we have enough of them in our homes and make sure they are in the right place so they can sense smoke if something happens.
Some of us are more at risk than others, and the campaign is aiming to show people the value of carrying out their own safety checks and help, or be helped, by their families, friends and neighbours.
