Affordable New Homes in Cambridge

South Cambridgeshire Homes Completed!

We have just completed a development of affordable new homes in South Cambridgeshire.

The 14 homes, on Armistice Close, Balsham Road, are on the outskirts of the village of Fulbourn and are a mixture of one, two and three bedroom homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

They have been offered to people either living or working locally, or who have close family links nearby.

We have developed the homes in partnership with South Cambridgeshire District Council, and with funding from Homes England. The road name was chosen by the Parish Council and the Fulbourn Branch of the Royal British Legion to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the first world war and in remembrance of all those who lost their lives in the conflict.

Executive Director of Development & Growth Sarah Ireland said “we are delighted to be working in close partnership with South Cambridgeshire District Council, Hill and Homes England to complete this new development of affordable homes. They have proved extremely popular. The rented homes are fully let and most of the shared ownership homes were sold off plan. With shared ownership particularly, people have a real opportunity to own a home in an area they have a strong connection to which they would be otherwise priced out of.”

“We have plans to build more homes, and the council want to increase the number of affordable homes in the district, so we look forward to working with them, and our other local authority partners, to deliver many more affordable homes in the future.”

South Cambridgeshire Councillor Dr Claire Daunton said "we are delighted to be working with Accent, and it is very good to see these homes completed so promptly. Fulbourn is an attractive village with a lively community, and people want to live and stay here. The council supported the plan for a small development of affordable homes, and we have them in Armistice Close. The homes have been prioritised for people either living, working or having close family relatives here.”

Robert Jack, Regional Director of Hill, said “It’s been a pleasure to work with Accent and South Cambridgeshire District Council to deliver Armistice Close, and we look forward to working in partnership together in future. Using design to help keep the homes affordable, we have built in high performing energy efficiency measures, including PV panels and car charging points. Each home features also features solar panels for personal electricity use, and to provide any surplus back into the national grid.”
