The development of 75 new homes is situated to the east of Hempsted, and is within the existing urban area of Peterborough where Accent has a total of 1872 homes in management.
Hempsted is a well-established community which benefits from a local centre which supports a range of local retail outlets including a convenience store, formal playing fields and play areas. The site has good road and rail access links, with both Peterborough City and Peterborough Railway station both within approx. 2.5 miles. The A15 and A1(M) are also located just over 3 miles from the development.
The homes will be built by Burmor Contruction working alongside James Garner Architecture who is the design architect.
Two of the bungalows being built have been designed to meet Part M4(Category 3) of the current Building Regulations. Homes built to this standard are considered 'Wheelchair user dwellings' and are ready to be adapted further to suit the needs of a specific resident.
Twenty one of the homes will meet Part M4(Category 2) of the current building regulations. Homes built to this standard are considered 'Accessible and adaptable dwelling'. These dwellings are potentially suitable for a wide range of occupants, including older people and those with reduced mobility.
