We usually replace kitchens every 20 years. We will let you know when you are due a new one.
When your new kitchen is due to be fitted, we will be in touch to let you know which contractor will carry out the work. The contractor will also get in touch before the due date to say hello, explain what the work involves, what colours and choices you have, and to let you know when, and for how long, they will be in your home. Please understand that things sometimes happen that may cause appointments for the work to change from time to time, but we will always let you know if they do.
Our leaflet, 'Your home is soon to have… a new kitchen fitted' contains information about the work and advice on how you can help make sure it all goes smoothly.
When work is due, a liaison officer from the contractor carrying it out will visit you to make sure you understand what is involved and to agree a start date with you. This officer will contact you directly, either by phone or letter, to arrange a suitable appointment. This officer will be your main contact while the work is being done and will help you with any questions or issues you may have.
The safety of you and your family, and our contractors, is our top priority. Our contractors should always wear the correct PPE, (personal protective equipment) but, if you feel they are not, or you feel at risk in any other way, please let us know straight away. We will never risk your safety, and neither should our contractors.
Before work can start, we may need to carry out an asbestos survey in your home to check if any asbestos is present. We need to check there is no hidden asbestos which could be disturbed when work is being done. There is no need to worry about this. If a survey is needed, it will be done by our specialist contractor, Environtec, who will contact you directly to make an appointment to carry it out. The survey will cover the inside of your home but will focus mainly where the work is being done. If any damage is caused, we will repair it when the work is finished. Not every home will need a survey, so there is no need to worry if Environtec don’t get in touch.
If you have any questions, or would like more information, please get in touch.
