We contacted all residents living in Accent’s Independent Living Schemes in the South to find out more about their experiences of living in such accommodation. The aim of this survey was to find out what features attracted residents to Independent Living and how we could tailor our offer to match the expectations of prospective residents. Our findings were as follows:
Although residents were generally happy with their homes, their neighbourhoods and our services; residents were less satisfied with the communal facilities such as laundry and car parking. We are carrying out a review to see how these could be improved.
Residents are disappointed by the size of their flats and the lack of storage space. As such, we have requested improvements to storage facilities including new storage areas for mobility scooters. We are also improving our planned works processes to make sure space is maximised in all Independent Living flats and studios.
Many residents who moved to an Independent Living scheme felt disappointed by their lack of housing options. In order to make our offer more attractive to prospective residents, we have created a brochure to advertise available properties and arranged Open Days for potential residents to view Independent Living Schemes.
