Ayala originally trained as a mental health nurse. In recent years, she worked as an administrator in a nursing home, then in financial assessments for the county council, mainly looking at property issues. From there she took a two year post, investigating complaints about social care.
Ayala started a new career in 2018 working for the Environment Agency, investigating pollution to waters and encouraging compliance with legislation.
Her skills include analysing and critical-thinking. She is motivated by outcomes and doing a good job. Her personal and professional experiences have equipped her with a good understanding of the challenges people face with health, disability, aging and financial difficulty.
