Renting a home
In most of the areas where we have homes, the renting of our properties is managed via a choice based lettings scheme, which is run in partnership with other local councils and registered providers. This means that you apply directly to the choice based letting scheme for a home.
In areas where we don’t have a choice based letting scheme, you will need to apply directly to the council and ask to speak to the housing team.
However, if you are looking for sheltered housing for the over 55s, you can apply to us directly. Please contact our customer services team.
If you are interested in exchanging your current home with an Accent Nene resident, we can help you with this:
- Choice Based letting schemes
- Non Choice Based Letting Local Authority contact details
- Exchanging your home
Choice based letting schemes offer more choice and applicants only have to register once. When homes become empty, landlords are advertised together. People who have applied can then 'bid' for homes they are interested in. Most schemes work on a banding system based on an applicant’s housing need. For example, homeless people may be put in band 1 (most urgent), while people already suitably housed but wanting another home are classed as least urgent and put in band 4.

Please use the contact details below to find out about properties in areas that are not covered by choice based lettings.
We are also members of a service called HomeSwapper which helps residents in affordable housing to exchange their home with other landlords. Accent Nene residents can advertise their property for free using this service, and also search for available properties.
Before starting this process, you need to contact your current landlord, as swapping your home in this way is subject to certain criteria and the agreement of both landlords.
Our residents can also advertise properties for exchange at our office in Peterborough.
