Ensuring you pay your rent or service charge on time is one of your main responsibilities. When you sign your tenancy agreement or other contract, you agree to pay on time, in full.
If you don’t pay your rent and service charge on time, your account will go into arrears. This can eventually lead to the loss of your home. Even if you are applying for Housing Benefit, you must pay the rent yourself until your claim is set up. If you are having any difficulties, please contact us as soon as possible.
We can help you manage your account and help you avoid getting into arrears. We can provide you with advice on how to pay and offer you support if you need it.
Ways to pay
The simplest way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit. Your payments will be made to us automatically so you don't need to worry. All you'll need to do is set up a direct debit instruction with us, which agrees the amount and date the payment will be collected from your bank or building society. Remember, we will only take the amount you've agreed, and we will always contact you if we want to change the amount or the date it is collected. All your payments are covered by the Direct Debt Guarantee which protects you and your money.
If you'd like to find out more on switching to direct debit, then please contact your local office who will be happy to help.
If you switch to direct debit, please don't forget to cancel your standing order with your bank.
BillPay lets you pay your bills online, it's free of charge and you only need a debit card from any UK bank to be able to use it. Your customer reference number on BillPay is your tenancy reference number. It is followed by RNT for rent payments or RCH for recharge payments. For example, 12345678RNT or 12345678RCH.
Please note that BillPay is an independent organisation, and not run by Accent.
We will keep you updated about any new ways of paying your rent on this page in your local neighbourhood newsletters.
