Turning Disused Garages into new Homes

GaragestohomesWe are building a number of new homes in Surrey Heath across five of our former garage sites.

The garages, which were in Camberley on Stonehouse Rise, Greenlands Road, Wood Road East, Windsor Court Road and Evergreen Road, have been demolished and are now being replaced with 19 affordable new homes for rent.

The new homes, which are due to be completed by March 2019, will be a mixture of one, two and three bedroom flats, houses and bungalows.

The five sites were previously home to over 120 garages which were unused and in need of repair. Due to the severe shortage of affordable homes in the Surrey Heath area, and as the garages were no longer in demand, we are redeveloping them into new homes.

Customer Experience Director Robert Mills said:"We are committed to delivering our plans to build 2,500 homes across England over the next five years to help address our country’s housing crisis. In Camberley, we had a number of unused and unwanted garages occupying land that could be redeveloped to provide affordable new homes for families in housing need. Good quality, affordable housing is not readily available in Camberley, but we are working with our partners and Surrey Heath Borough Council to make the most of every opportunity we have to provide new homes.”

Mr Mills added: “I’d like to thank the mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Dan Adams for joining us on our first bricklaying event.”
