New Homes in Killinghall

KillinghallSome of our affordable new homes in the pretty village of Killinghall in North Yorkshire have now been completed.

The 31 new homes, which we have built in partnership with Harrogate Borough Council and Miller Homes, form part of a bigger development of 81 new homes, the remainder of which are for sale at market rate from Miller Homes.

Our homes, which are available to people with a connection to the area, have been built as a Section 106 Agreement. These agreements make sure that a percentage of any new homes built within the Harrogate borough (currently 40%) remain affordable to the local community so local people have a chance to buy or rent a home in an area they have grown up in, or are connected to when they might not otherwise be able to afford to.

Harrogate Mayor Councillor Anne Jones attended joined us for the launch, saying how pleased she was with the high standard of the homes that Harrogate Borough Council, alongside Accent, have delivered.

We have been pleased to work with Harrogate Borough Council for a number of years on similar developments.

We have invested £2.5M into the new homes. The next phase of 10 homes is due to be completed in November.

Our Chief Executive Paul Dolan said “We are delighted to be working with Harrogate Borough Council and Miller Homes on this new development of affordable homes. Sadly, our country is in a housing crisis with not enough quality, affordable homes to go around and so many people are affected by it. This is why developments like these are so important and can form such a vital part of any community. By ensuring some of the homes remain affordable, it means that some people who might otherwise be forced to move away from the communities they know and have grown up in, now have an opportunity to stay and own or rent an affordable, safe and secure property they are proud to call home.”
