Women into Construction and Accent Womenbuild

We are very proud of our nationally acclaimed education projects, which offer personal training and employment programmes to disadvantaged people in our communities.

Women into Construction was our first highly successful training scheme for women aged 16 to 65 which ran at Barkerend Road Training Centre, Bradford.

The scheme, managed by Womenbuild West Yorkshire, worked with construction companies and colleges to help women train to become builders, decorators and joiners.

Accent Community Partnerships had the largest contract with Womenbuild West Yorkshire. They worked with 49 women, who have now each had the chance to improve their numeracy and literacy skills, and find out more about working in these industries. The project has also given them some hands-on experience through work tasters and placements.
