Accent wins prestigious award
We are delighted to announce that we have been named as the
overall winner in the Academy for Sustainable Communities
(ASC), taking top honours in the Creating the Future Award for
Excellence at the Awards for Sustainable Communities 2007.
We were named as overall winner after taking first place in our
entrance category - the 'Skills, training, learning and workforce
development category'.
'The Academy for Sustainable Communities holds a national awards
scheme that provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate the
efforts of individuals, groups and organisations striving to
improve local communities and the lives of the people who live and
work in them.
There were more than 200 entries for the 2007 awards from projects
across the country. The range and quality of entries demonstrated
the impressive levels of determination and imagination being
applied to the improvement of our neighbourhood, villages, towns
and cities.'
Accent Community Partnerships has successfully provided the
necessary skills and support for young people to be employable in
their community. It has encouraged participation and cohesion among
a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds in an area that has
experienced severe racial tension and disharmony.
Winning the overall award demonstrates, and is a worthy testament
to, how much Accent Community Partnerships has achieved.
We were also finalists in the Engaging Young People category,
having been nominated as a candidate for the shortlist of
entrants.
If anyone would like to talk to us more about the awards, Accent
Group will be present at this years Chartered Institute of Housing
Conference, Harrogate, at stand B100 from the 19th-21st
June.
