Healthcare partnerships

Through a PFI partnership with Leeds Mental Health Teaching NHS Trust, we have taken the city's mental health services out of outdated and unsuitable premises and into the 21st century.

Private Finance Initiative - PFI

This pioneering £47m project called for the development of 30,000 m2 of new facilities across seven separate sites in the city - some attached to acute hospitals, some in the community.

The facilities include:

- a small, 20-bed residential and rehabilitation unit for frail elderly patients;

- a child and adolescent unit housed in a listed former judge's lodging; and

- three major units with more than 100 beds each.

The project was financed, designed and built by an Accent-led consortium. While the Trust continues to provide all clinical care, we have a long-term operational contract to deliver property maintenance, facilities management and hotel services.

The development has won a number of major accolades, including Best Operational Health Project at the 2003 National PFI Awards and Best Social Scheme from the RICS 2003 Pro-Yorkshire Awards.
