Edgar Bignell, BSc(Hons) MCIEH, joined Accent Homes Ltd (formerly Bradford & Northern Housing Association Ltd) in 1998 as a Regional Committee Member for the North West.

After joining the Board of the Association in 1999, he became a Member of the Accent Foundation Board in 2000 and the Accent Group Board in 2001. Edgar has been Deputy Chair of the Accent Group Board since July 2004 and is also currently Chairman of Accent Regeneration Ltd.

Edgar's professional background is in Environmental Health and Housing. A local government officer for over 30 years with various Local Authorities, Edgar retired in 1997 from his position as Director of Community Services with Hyndburn Borough Council, a post which he had held for over 12 years.

Edgar lives in Ludlow. He and his wife, Mellonie, currently run a small-holding breeding rare-breed animals.
